The whole world is facing untold challenges under the Covid-19 pandemic. So many areas of our lives are affected. The pandemic puts paid to the collective joy of watching films on the big screen. Instead, we are reduced to an individual and more limited virtual viewing experience.
For the past 25 years, we have traveled far and wide with the Festival on Wheels, coming together with different audiences all over Turkey. Even where there are no cinemas, we find imaginative ways to present our slate of films to audiences in the best possible setting. Q&A sessions, live performances, a sense of community and warm conversation are an important and integral part of the Festival experience…
Which is why we feel that a virtual edition of the event would fail to capture the true spirit of the Festival on Wheels. That said, we are continuing preparations for the time—hopefully very soon—when we can take to the road again.
The pandemic has also dealt a heavy blow to arts and cultural life. On this point, we would just like to say that we stand in solidarity with all component parts of the industry. And we thank you all for your steadfast support over the past 25 years.
