Seventh Continent, The

Scenes of everyday life and a simple story. Georg works in the surveillance center of a big enterprise, his wife Anna is an optician in a family-run business. But the security of their routine life proves to be deceptive. For too long now Georg and Anna have closed their eyes to the growing isolation and senselessness of life. When one day their daughter Eva pretends she can no longer see, hitherto latent aggressions burst forth. Something is underway: The longing for the seventh continent. A billboard promises paradise on earth - ‘Welcome to Australia’ is written there, endless beaches and the sea is shown. Australia, the aim of a long desired trip. Australia, that means never again trouble with the boss; never again driving to the carwash to prove who and what you are - or who and what you’d like to be. And to never again vegetate, day in and day out, in your speechless existence and complete isolation, in a well groomed one-family house.
