ABOUT NICE - CONTINUED
In 1930, the year of the release of his film A Propos De Nice, a 21 minute visual poem, Jean Vigo theorised thus about his approach: “This social documentary is unlike the ordinary documentary and the weekly news-reel because of the point of view clearly supported in it by the director. And it certainly is worth considering due to its success in revealing the truth hidden behind. As a result, this documentary is not only the concern of its director but of humanity.” Sixty-five years later, in tribute to Jean Vigo, seven filmmakers pay a new call on Nice, its facade and the faces hidden behind it.
