Four Steps

The film is about the metamorphosis of wedding traditions. What happened to the old wedding ways and customs that were marked by joy, mystery and sadness? In the Baltic mythology, weddings were associated with death and rebirth. They were full of various laments, songs and rituals. Can we still see the reflection of these traditions in the modern, commercialized weddings? Do we have to look for them? What have we lost and what have we discovered?

“The film is composed of at least three single ideas. The first one is the story of a cow being led to slaughter. The second is a story of the very simple pleasures, of someone rolling up a little hill in a wheelchair and back down again. And the third is the story of a blind man. These three stories conjoined intuitively, in a completely irrational way. The large eyes of the cow merged with the eyes of the blind man.” Audrius Stonys
