ALABAMA: 2000 LIGHT YEARS

The film is Wender’s first 35mm and cinemascope, and also his first work with cameraman Robby Muller with whom he works together in many of his later films. The flow of time is adomed with many rock records played on the record player in Bruno’s truck and there are extracts from Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix to interpret All Alone the Watchtower... At the end of the film not the hero but the camera dies. The thing seen is the death of the camera, it fades out slowly in a very long time…
