Yüksel Aksu got his master's degree from the Cinema-TV Department, Dokuz Eylül University. He started his cinema career as assistant director in cinema and TV films, continuing as supervisor in feature films such as Karışık Pizza, Gemide, Laleli'de Bir Azize and Güle Güle. He directed several TV series. In 1994, he received the Best Documentary Award at Adana with Underground Kadir ve Sinema Çetesi, and in 1995, Second Best Documentary Award at Ankara with Zamanın Labirentinde Karşılaşma. In 2006 he wrote, produced and directed the low budget feature film Ice Cream, I Scream which was the Turkish nominee for the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award. He is also a scriptwriting tutor at Istanbul University Department of Television.
