Semih Kaplanoğlu was born in 1963 in İzmir. He graduated from the Film and Television Department at the Dokuz EylŸl University. He made short films. His feature film debut Away from Home (2000) won several awards and was shown at a number of festivals. Angel’s Fall (2004), which also received the attention of both audiences and critics, had its world premiere at the 55th Berlin IFF. He has also written a number of articles about fine arts and cinema.
