Born in Regio di Calabria 1955. Self-taught, began making documentaries in 1983, which have been shown in many European festivals. The interview with a factory worker that a student submits to Professor Sajevo in La Seconda Volta is extracted from his documentary Alla Fiat era cosi which is about the changes in Fiat factories. Worked with former terrorists in video workshops in prison. Mimmo Calopresti says, "I have always sought things for my videos that I could have used in a feature film. My documentary work was based on characters, on a cinematic approach. I was more interested in individuals and their lives than in social inquiries." La Seconda Volta is his first fiction feature and selected for competition in the Cannes in 1996.
