Ken McMullen
During the 1980s Ken McMullen established himself as an important independent director with 5 feature films. Notably, he won best film award for Zina (about Leon Trotsky’s daughter) at the San Sebastian and Rotterdam Festivals in 1986. He was also invited to the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes in 1990 for his film about the Paris Commune entitled 1871. He directed films on three British artist in 1978-79 and before that a film on the German artist Joseph Beuys. In 1992, he made R, a film for the BBC, exploring aspects of the work of Rembrandt.
