Born in 1971. She studied Mathematics and History of Art at Cambridge, where she wrote, directed and performed in a number of productions. In 1998, she won a place on the NFTS fiction direction course and was awarded the Heath Group/ICE Media Scholarship. She directed two short films during her time there: Numb and Crow Stone. In 2002 she was selected for the Cinefondation Residence in Paris, where she started work on her first feature Sadie by the Sea.
